The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office in New York has opened an investigation into the Trump Organization, investigating whether the company misled a local town about the land value of its golf course for tax purposes, have confirmed several people familiar with the matter to CNN.

Investigators are looking at the value Trump placed on the property in federal public disclosure forms versus the much lower value negotiated with officials in the city where the golf club is located, a source confirmed to CNN.

The investigation has been ongoing for months. To date, no one has been charged or charged with wrongdoing. A spokesperson for the Trump Organization denied any wrongdoing.

The New York Times first reported the existence of the investigation.

A spokesperson for the Westchester District Attorney’s Office, Mimi Rocah, made no comment when contacted by CNN.

People familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN that investigators subpoenaed property tax records for the city of Ossining, as well as documents from the Trump Organization. A city spokesperson declined to comment.

The Trump Organization and its CFO Allen Weisselberg are already facing criminal charges in Manhattan where they are charged with participating in a fraud scheme, as well as conspiracy, criminal tax evasion and falsification of business records . Former President Donald Trump has not been charged. Weisselberg and the Trump Organization have each pleaded not guilty.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is still investigating other Trump properties and their appraisals.

In July, Ossining City Council approved a settlement with Trump National Golf Club LLC to “correct and reduce” the assessed value of the company’s Westchester Golf Club for five years from 2016, the final assessed values for the club. ranging from $ 9.75 million to $ 11 million. The city originally valued the club at $ 15.8 million in 2018 and 2019. In a financial disclosure form for 2021, Trump listed the value of his Westchester Trump National Golf Club property at “over” 50 million dollars, and also said the club grossed around $ 6.3 million in revenue.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization said in a statement to CNN that the estimated value of his golf course has been jointly resolved by the company and the city.

“The club’s request for a review of its tax assessments was amicably resolved earlier this year and approved by city council, the city assessor, the city’s special advocate (who determined that the regulation was both ‘appropriate and in the best interests of the Town of Ossining’), the Briarcliff Manor School District, the Westchester County Attorney’s Office and the Westchester County Supreme Court Justice who presides over the ‘case,’ the spokesperson said. “Accordingly, the suggestion that something was inappropriate is completely false and incredibly irresponsible. The witch hunt continues …”

Ossining City Supervisor Dana Levenberg declined to say whether she or other city officials had been contacted by investigators from the Westchester District Attorney’s Office, but released a statement to CNN on the regulation concerning the estimated value of the golf course.

“We believe this settlement is in the best interests of the city’s residents and businesses,” Levenberg said in a statement to CNN. “Each side has compromised in the interest of reaching an agreement.”
