TULLAMORE Musical Society has postponed the auditions and workshops for its next production.

The company says the growing number of Covid-19 cases and government guidelines on controlling the spread of the virus are the reason for the postponement.

New auditions and workshop dates will be announced by the company as soon as possible and registration for online auditions is still open.

Tullamore Musical Society, an award-winning organization that stages a production each year, is working on its presentation of the musical The Addams Family.

It is hoped that it will open in May 2022 and last for six nights.

Auditions were originally scheduled for Sunday January 9 at Hugh Lynch’s, Tullamore, preceded by a dance and music workshop on Thursday January 6 at Tullamore Rugby Club.

Performers were wanted for all roles in the famous show, including the role of Gomez Addams, who is described in the Musical Society’s character synopsis as “a man of Spanish descent who is very proud of his family” and Morticia Addams, a “woman who is fit, attractive, leggy, family strength”.

In October, the company appointed Pat McElwain as show director, Deirdre Browne as choreographer and Enda O’Connor as musical director.

The activities of the Tullamore Musical Society have been hit hard by Covid-19 over the past two years, but members have been fortunate enough to perform outside at the recent Christmas market and food fair in O ‘ Connor Square in the city.
