Swansea Building Society and Swansea City AFC have a long history together, with the company having provided various sponsorships to the club over recent years. The two organizations also share a similar long history as key characteristics within the Swansea community. The football club, then known as Swansea Town, won its first league title in 1924, just a year after the Swansea Building Society was founded as a mutual. As the construction company nears its centenary, it has achieved record results and passed the important milestone of £500m in total assets.

As a result, the mutual – with branches in Swansea, Mumbles, Carmarthen and Cowbridge – has expanded, investing £1m in IT and recruiting six new staff in the current year. This was all achieved thanks to growth of £28.5 million in the first quarter of the year – its highest growth figure ever since the Building Society was founded in 1923.

The main objectives of the company are the provision of savings and mortgage products in the South Wales region. Its unique range of personalized mortgages is financed by the savings of its members.
