Spurs board vows to work with fan groups after admitting relationship was ‘strained’

Tottenham’s board acknowledged that the club’s relations with its main fan groups have become ‘strained’ and pledged to work together to forge a stronger partnership in the months to come.

The board were responding to a series of questions released publicly by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust this week, having been denied a face-to-face meeting with prominent members of the club.

Fans have become increasingly agitated over Tottenham’s relative lack of activity in recent transfer windows, and have asked officials to clarify the club’s visions and strategic goals.

In a response to the Board of Trustees of the Trust, which the recipient has posted in full on their official website, the Tottenham Board of Directors admitted: “We have always been committed to communicating with our fan groups and clubs. supporters. [.]

“We recognize that a relationship that we all enjoy is currently strained, and we hope we can come out of these difficult times to work together more successfully.”

In response to specific questions from the Trust about the board’s short- and medium-term goals, the club maintained they were in a strong position to ‘rebuild’ the post-Covid and meet fans’ expectations.

“Fortunately, we came out of the pandemic with the club financially stable and sustainable,” the club added.

“Remarkably, this will actually be our first full season at our new stadium with fans. We need to recognize the journey we are on – and its interruption – to rebuild both on and off the pitch.

“As we said before, this board has always been ambitious for the club and our supporters.”
