5 best Hump Day movies on Amazon for November 3, 2021

Society of the Dead Poet (1989)

Circle of Missing Poets is set at Welton Academy, an elite Conservative boarding school in the late 1950s. This film received huge commercial success and numerous accolades. Robin Williams plays John Keating, a progressive teacher who doesn’t quite fit the school mold.

Keating, a Welton Alum and Rhodes Scholar, begins his first year as an English teacher and encourages the boys in his classes to ‘make your life extraordinary’. This philosophy is not something the students of Welton were never encouraged to do. Students are inspired by Keating’s teaching, which is unsuitable for administration or parents.

A group of students discover that Keating had belonged to a group of the Dead Poet’s Society, something which was hidden from the administration. The boys restart the club, giving the boys the courage to do what they really want to do; it is not the Welton way or what their parents want for their future.

The film also stars Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, Gale Hansen, Norman Lloyd, Kurtwood Smith, Dylan Kussman, George Martin and Lara Flynn Boyle.

Gnomeo and Juliet (2011)

We come to one of the Hump Day movies for kids. Shakespeare’s animated twist Romeo and Juliet title Gnomeo and Juliet is a fantastic computer-animated romantic comedy. The story is loosely based on the work of Shakespeare and it’s a movie you’ll watch over and over again.

The film features the vocal talents of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Jason Statham, Maggie Smith, Ashley Jensen, Stephen Merchant, Matt Lucas, Jim Cummings, Julie Walters, Richard Wilson, Patrick Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne.

Located in Stratford-upon-Avon, two gardens owned by warring neighbors Miss Montague and Mr. Capulet are inhabited by gnomes who come to life when their owners leave for the day. The gnomes are based on characters from Romeo and Juliet, and it’s pretty fun to see all kinds of animated garden gnomes and lawn ornaments.

The film has an amazing soundtrack with music by Elton John, Nelly Furtado, and Kiki Dee. It is a film which will delight children and parents.

Sleeping with the Enemy (1991)

Sleeping with the enemy received negative reviews, but the box office reported that viewers did not feel the same. The film broke the record for the highest national opening for a film with a female lead role.

Laura Burney (Julia Roberts) has lived an idyllic life with her perfect husband, Martin (Patrick Bergin). But, things are not always what they appear to be. This psychological thriller reveals that Martin is obsessive and controlling and has physically, emotionally and sexually abused his wife throughout their four years of marriage.

One night, the couple go sailing with their neighbor, even though Martin knows that Laura is afraid of water and cannot swim. A storm unexpectedly arrives and Laura is swept overboard. His body is never found and Martin mourns his loss.

But, again, things are still what they appear to be. This movie will keep telling you more, but I won’t spoil it for you. Believe me; it’s a thriller worth your time.

Jingle All The Way (1996)

Many people count the days until November 1 to start their Christmas frenzy. Amazon released Jingle All the Way and its sequel Jingle all the way 2 to get you started. These are the perfect Hump Day movies for the whole family.

This movie is a hilarious take on parents in an effort to secure the must-have gift of the season for their child. Jingle All the Way was inspired by sold-out Christmas items like Cabbage Patch dolls and Christmas marketing.

We see two fathers played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad, hardworking men who do not always have time for their families. When they find out that their child’s Christmas wish is to receive the popular Turbo-Man action figure, the two fathers decide to make their child’s wish come true.

The film follows the antics of the men as they will go out of their way to prove that they are the best father and prove to their child that they love them with the gift.

The film also stars Rita Wilson, Phil Hartman, Jake Lloyd, Robert Conrad, Martin Mull, Jim Belushi, Laraine Newman, Harvey Korman, Richard Moll, Curtis Armstrong, Danny Woodburn, Chris Parnell and Verne Troyer.

Abandoned (2000)

Castaway was directed and produced by Robert Zemeckis and stars Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt and Nick Searcy. The movie is a Hanks fan favorite, and he did a fantastic job in this movie.

FedEx employee Chuck Noland (Hanks) travels aboard a cargo plane that crashes in a storm. He survives using the liferaft, but the emergency locator is ripped off. He washes on an unexplored and uninhabited island. As FedEx packages wash ashore, he uses them to survive, including a volleyball he names Wilson, which serves as his only companion on the island.

It’s a story of the human spirit and what a person can go through when they have the will to live. It’s an exceptional movie, and Hanks does a great job conveying all the emotions that one would feel trying to fight to live another day.
