Scarborough and Whitby groups benefit from £5,500 donations from the Mayor’s Community Fund

During a special presentation at Scarborough Town Hall, the Mayor and Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough, Cllr Eric Broadbent and Mrs. Lynne Broadbent, presented checks to:

YMCA Scarborough, Scarborough and District Disablement Action Group, Scarborough Sixth Form College, Speak Out Community Support Group, Dalesmen Singers, 1st Scarborough Scout Group, Whitby Hidden Impairments Support and Help (WHISH), Scarborough & District Scout Council Cub Section and North Yorkshire Majorettes .

Yorkshire Coast Sight Support and Scarborough Theater Company also received checks but were unable to attend the official presentation.

Cllr Broadbent said: ‘The best thing about fundraising is being able to pass it on to beneficiaries across the borough, many of whom struggle to get funds through traditional channels.

“I’m very proud that the money we’ve given will have a positive impact on the important work they do and the communities they are part of.

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our fundraising efforts over the past year, including the support of our committee, board colleagues, the Rotary Club of Scarborough and all those who have contributed to make the Mayor’s Ball in March a huge success.

“The fund is now in a good position to help even more groups and organizations next year and applications for funding will open in the fall.”
