Omemee: Pickles, Pies and Preserves with the Manvers Historical Society

The Manvers Historical Society will host Pickles, Pies and Preserves on November 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old Bethany Post Office.

In addition to baked goods, various company publications will be available for purchase.


Local wildlife photographers Dave and Ingrid Ellis have created two calendars for 2022 featuring wildlife photographs from the City of Kawartha Lakes. Calendars are on sale for $ 25 and make a wonderful gift.

The famous Lioness Lions apple pies are back for 2021. Available in Cortland, Spy, and sugar-free, these frozen, uncooked apple pies come with baking instructions and are available for just $ 10.

Profits from sales will be donated to the community.

The Lioness Lions Club is hosting its annual Christmas Crafts and Bake Sale on November 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church, 21 Sturgeon Rd.

There will be delicious pies and other treats as well as crafts and treasures.

Admission is free with a donation to the Omemee Food Bank. There will be a surprise draw.

Harvest festival

Aunt Laura’s tearoom offers meals on Sunday evenings during the Harvest Festival. All meals must be pre-ordered by calling 705-277-2751 or emailing [email protected] Meals must be pre-ordered by Saturday before pickup Sunday, 5-7 p.m.

The October 31 menu includes lasagna (meat or vegetables), Caesar salad, garlic bread, pumpkin pie or mixed berry crisp, $ 20

Remembrance Day

This year’s Remembrance Day dinner is by invitation only for Legion members and select guests. The Legion, Branch 497 is hoping things will get back to normal for 2022.

There will be no Remembrance Day parade this year and the Legion is asking members of the public to stay home on November 11 to allow veterans to attend the service due to COVID collection restrictions.

The Annual Poppy Fund always collects donations that can be sent to the Legion or given to a Legion member who will make sure it gets to the right person.

Community care
