Minnesota doubleheader represents growing connections in Dynamo organization

When Houston Dynamo and Houston Dynamo 2 travel to Allianz Field this weekend for a crucial game against the Loons in MLS and MLS Next Pro, they won’t be traveling alone. Not only is tomorrow a crucial game for the first and second teams, but it’s only the second time this season that the two teams have traveled together to a doubles away from home.

While the operational on-pitch relationship between Dynamo’s first and second team has been evident in training and on matchday, Dynamo 2 head coach Kenny Bundy sees the trip as another point of departure in the relationship within the organization off the pitch.

“These trips where we travel with the first team are great,” Bundy said. “Walking into the establishment today there were a few first-team guys who came in and asked if we are planning with them. They think it’s amazing, they wonder when we’re playing and if we’re in the same hotel as There is a buzz around the club now – as the club has grown there is real camaraderie and support between the first team, second team, right up to the academy. , we’ve had academy meetings where Dan and I have come in and watched them pitch in. It’s important that we support these guys because we’re all working towards the same goal of producing young players who impact the premiere team in the field.

As Bundy alluded to, the budding unity between the first and second team is something that carried over into the academy.

“In the dressing room right next to us, every morning I come in and shake hands with the U-20s to make sure they know they’re not that far from us,” the captain said. and Dynamo 2 defender Talen. Maples. “They’re part of that, we’re all part of the same organization. I see someone I don’t know, I’m going to introduce myself, so we can all feel like we’re part of that. You can ‘I don’t I don’t have an organization trying to build a separate culture. You have to have everyone together, and I think our team did that very, very well.”

Dynamo’s first team will wrap up a two-game road trip tomorrow against Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. CDT and will air on TUDN and Univision. Houston Dynamo 2 will follow the first team at Allianz Field, taking on MNUFC2 at 6 p.m. CDT, which will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
