Louisiana Watercolor Society Artists to Exhibit at Oak Knoll | Lifestyles

Artists who are members of the Louisiana Watercolor Society will have work on display June 1-29 at the Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond.

The newly renovated club is open to the public, as is the art display on the walls of the main dining room.

A reception and awards show open to the public will be held on Sunday, June 5 from 2-4 p.m. at Oak Knoll.

Looking at the finished product of the June 1 installation committee, new LWS President Tracy Hebert of Port Allen was thrilled. “This show is wonderful,” she said looking around the room.

Many paintings depict Louisiana scenes, and some are full sheets of watercolor, 22×40 inches before framing, statement pieces.

The show will be judged by New Orleans watercolor artist Martha Guthrie, known for her beautiful still lifes and landscapes. Prizes will be awarded at the reception on Sunday, June 5. Participating artists hail from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Port Allen as well as many other locations across the state.

With few exceptions, the paintings on display are for sale through the Oak Knoll Country Club with prices listed on title cards next to the paintings.

“We are so happy with the Oak Knoll site,” Hebert said. “The decorator must have had artwork in mind when the room was redone. Everything works so well together.
