Heroic Group C at BLAST Premier Fall Groups

Heroic avenged an earlier loss to FaZe Clan by winning the Grand Finals to clinch first place in Group C on Sunday at the 2022 BLAST Premier Fall Groups in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Heroic’s 16-10 win over FaZe on Inferno saw the team through to next week’s Qualifying Round Finals. FaZe will start in the semi-finals while BIG and Evil Geniuses, also out of Group C, will have to play in the first round.

Twelve teams have been split into three double-elimination, best-of-ones groups to determine the seeding for the qualifying phase, which will feature best-of-three matches. Next week’s top six will earn spots in the $425,000 Fall Finals in November, with the bottom six settling for the Fall Showdown.

Heroic joined Astralis (Group A winners) and Natus Vincere (Group B winners) in claiming the double bye to the Play-In Finals.

The all-Danish club started their day with a 16-13 victory over BIG on Nuke. Rene “TeSeS” Madsen and Casper “cadiaN” Moller each scored 23 kills for Heroic, with TeSeS posting a 5+ kill differential.

In the other Group C first round match, FaZe Clan defeated Evil Geniuses 16-8 on Inferno. Latvian Helvijs “broky” Saukants played for FaZe with 23 kills on a plus-14 KD.

FaZe then defeated Heroic in the top group final, 16-10 over Nuke. Robin “ropz” Kool from Estonia managed a record 21 decisive wins for FaZe. The result sent Heroic to the bottom group finals.

After BIG eliminated Evil Geniuses 16-6 on Mirage, Heroic won a close 16-14 contest on Nuke to defeat BIG in the bottom group finals. Martin “stavn” Lund recorded 28 plus-8 kills for Heroic, while Germany’s Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz had game-highs of 30 kills and a plus-9 KD to lead BIG.

In their rematch with FaZe in the Grand Finals, Heroic took a 6-4 lead and never trailed again. Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard in turn took the lead for Heroic with 21 kills on a plus-6, while stavn had 20 kills on a plus-6 and Rasmus “sjuush” Beck scored 19 kills on a plus-6. plus-7. Nobody finished with a positive KD for FaZe.
