Flood-affected groups benefit from the generosity of Lions

Peter Tobin, Lions member, with Max Travis, President of the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum.

The Gympie Lions Club made donation presentations to the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum and the Albert Bowls Club at their Community Morning Tea on Thursday, July 14.

“Both organizations sustained significant damage from the recent flooding and have worked hard to resume full operations since then,” Lions President Glenn Williams said.

Lions member Peter Tobin presented donations of $1,000 each to Janelle Westlake, president of the Albert Bowls Club, and Max Travis, president of the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum.

Both presidents then thanked the Gympie Lions for their financial assistance which will be spent to restore and replace essential services and items at their facilities.

Over fifty people attended the morning tea and, by popular demand, the next Lions community morning tea will continue at the Gympie Senior Citizens Centre, Mellor St, Gympie at 10am on Thursday 11th August.

Anyone interested in serving their community as a Lions member can contact Gympie Lions by email at [email protected] or by phone at 0427 276 933.
