Donegal ETB Golf Society kicks off for another year – Donegal Daily

The ETB Golf Society will resume for the 2022-23 season next Saturday on the beautiful links of Dunfanaghy Golf Club.

The Society Captain for the coming season is Mr. Cathal McGee of Ballybofey. Cathal is well known for his role as a Senior Welding Instructor at ETB’s Letterkenny Training Center and also as a WorldSkills Welding Expert. He has certainly created a strong bond with the members since joining the company several years ago and everyone wishes the B&S Golf Club man the best of luck in the coming year.

Last year’s Golfer of the Year was Finn Valley College physical education teacher Paddy McDaid, who won his fifth Golfer of the Year award in June, hotly pursued by Donegal’s Deirdre O’ Toole Sports Partnership and John Bosco Gallagher of Coláiste Ailigh. The MaryAnn Kane Magnificent 7 Trophy was won by Moville CC teacher Ryan Monagle, who has made an impressive start since joining the company. Other big winners last year were SallyAnn McFadden, also from Moville CC, who won the inaugural Memorial Competition, Tommy Greally who won the President’s Award and the Finn Valley College duo of Paddy McDaid and Rory White who won won the prize for the team event, The Seán O’ Longáin Cup.

So, the stage is set for what promises to be another exciting year with the popular ETB Golf Society. Captain Cathal has put together an impressive list of outings to some of Donegal’s top golf courses for the coming season. Good luck to all golfers!
