Booster shots available for ages 16 and over – here’s where different age groups can get vaccinated

From today, all people aged 16 and over eligible for a booster vaccine can access this service through designated HSE vaccination centers.

Young people in this cohort must make an appointment for a booster dose and the appointment portal on the HSE site has been online since New Year’s Eve.

General practitioners and community pharmacies will also offer this service by appointment.

It comes as the Department of Health announced on Friday evening the acceleration of the recall program for people aged 16 and over.

Yesterday, 23,281 more cases of Covid-19 were reported by public health officials, while the number of people hospitalized with the virus increased from 68 to 679 as of 8 p.m. last night.

However, the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care is unchanged at 84 over the same period.

The public PCR testing system remains under intense pressure; At 9:30 a.m. this morning, no appointments were available at any of the testing centers across the country.
